Understanding the Future

When you understand a thing you can make it better. If you don’t understand it, fear reigns.

A few nights ago I listened to a recording of a radio broadcast from the ’50s called With Folded Hands. It’s a scifi story about robots that take over the planet.

The most interesting thing that popped into my head was that the writer had no real idea what the future would hold. There are simply too many things that affect each other. Predicting people is hard because they have perspectives you haven’t considered.

Even now, we don’t know what’s coming. I think there’s a trick to help chart a course. Envision the future of humanity rather than simply your own self. That shows the situation more accurately. You can predict more effectively.

Take as a given humanity’s quick advancements at an increasing pace. What are you going to do with what will be around you?
