How do you know the right thing to do? I believe you have to assign meaning to your life and to each moment before you. All things in life are valueless until you assign value to them.
The power gold or garments have over you is in your beliefs, not external realities.
To each moment you assign a value. How you frame your moment determines your response. Positive thinking is powerful because it changes how you look at challenges and opportunities. It’s not magical, it’s understandable and concrete.
There is no external truth. The mathematician Godel showed that it is not possible for all truth to be internally consistent and externally complete. Therefore, realize that you must pick and choose. How you pick determines what you believe and what you do.
When you reframe the situation, your understanding changes. Imagine seeing a boy angrily kick a cat. How upset are you? Now imagine seeing the cat scratch his baby sister before he kicks it. Are you as upset?
A situation’s power comes only from you.
Remember Mahatma Gandhi’s mantra:
“Let the first act of every morning be to make the following resolve for the day:
I shall not fear anyone on Earth.
I shall fear only God.
I shall not bear ill will toward anyone.
I shall not submit to injustice from anyone.
I shall conquer untruth by truth.
And in resisting untruth, I shall put up with all suffering.”
