Ramez Naam is a pretty cool dude. The first book I read of his is called Nexus. It’s my new all-time favorite book. I don’t say that lightly. It has science and telepathy and empathy and hacking and insight into the future of humanity.
Ramez is an optimist of the best kind: he’s extremely level-headed. He sees a bright future but illuminates the costs that exist, as well. He points out repeatedly that even though the problems we face can be solved, we still need to hit the books and labs and actually Do The Work. We can’t just sit back. You can make a difference.
Here are his books:
- More Than Human: Embracing the Promise of Biological Enhancement
- The Infinite Resource: The Power of Ideas on a Finite Planet
- Nexus
- Crux
He has many videos. While there is some overlap, they’re all pretty interesting:
